Night Fishing
Night fishing is mostly done on traditional dhoanis which leave from the resorts in the late afternoon. The crew will help you get used to using a line with a hook that has some bait attached on it. The lines are dropped into shallows and lagoons near the resort.
On night fishing trips you are most likely to catch groupers, snappers, squirrelfish or barracuda. Often the trips will end with a barbecue on the beach back at the resort where you will sample the day's catch.

Big Game Fishing
For the serious enthusiast, big game fishing in the Maldives can be one of the most rewarding experiences. Depending on the weather, your catch might include sailfish, Wahoo, yellow fin tuna, blue, black and striped marlin.
Traditionally, big-game fishing in the Maldives was closer to trolling. However, at present many resorts offer fishing trips on modern speedboats equipped for big game fishing where western style equipment including fighting chairs and strong rods are used.
